The Driver Recruiter position is a full-time role based in Columbia, SC, where the primary function is to research, recruit, interview, screen, and refer candidates who meet the essential qualifications for prospective drivers. This role is crucial in ensuring that TMC continues to attract and retain top talent in the transportation industry. As a Driver Recruiter, you will initiate contact with potential candidates, review applications, and conduct telephone interviews to gather information about their work history, education, training, and job skills. You will also provide candidates with information about the organization and the available positions. Additionally, you will assist in performing reference and background checks on applicants, ensuring that TMC maintains its high standards for hiring. Building and maintaining positive relationships with candidates is essential, as is arranging travel and lodging for out-of-town applicants. This role requires a proactive approach to recruitment and a commitment to finding the best candidates for TMC's needs.

Responsibilities

  • Initiate contact with possible qualified candidates
  • Review applications and telephone interview applicants to obtain work history, education, training, job skills, and to provide information about the organization and position
  • Assist in performing reference and background checks on applicants
  • Provide information on company facilities and job opportunities to potential applicants
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with candidates
  • Arrange travel and lodging for out-of-town applicants

Requirements

  • 2 or 4 year degree preferably in Transportation or Human Resource or equivalent work experience
  • Ability to function in a high-volume fast-paced work environment and tolerate stress
  • Ability to communicate clearly and persuasively to all levels of candidates
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including good listening skills
  • Possess courteous, yet assertive telephone personality
  • Fluent in computer applications and keyboard proficiency
  • Must have previous Driver Recruiter experience
