About the position

The Driver Trainee position at Republic Services is designed to train individuals to obtain a commercial driver's license (CDL) and transition into a Driver role within the company. The role involves completing a comprehensive training program that includes classroom study, on-route training, and practical driving experience. Once the CDL is obtained, the Driver Trainee will be responsible for operating heavy or commercial trucks along designated routes, ensuring safety and compliance with company policies.

Responsibilities

• Successfully complete Republic Services' CDL training program, including classroom study and on-route training.
• Complete twelve (12) full months of employment with Republic Services after obtaining a CDL.
• Perform pre- and post-operation inspections of the assigned vehicle to ensure it is in proper working order.
• Safely operate a heavy or commercial truck along designated routes and to disposal sites.
• Read route sheets and follow maps to service customers as assigned.
• Operate manual and/or automatic controls to lift and load refuse and dispose of collected material.
• Identify unsatisfactory waste containers and tag them according to departmental procedures.
• Continuously monitor waste for evidence of unacceptable waste.
• Ensure assigned vehicle is operationally ready at all times and clean waste from the packer blade and truck body after each trip.
• Follow all required safety policies and procedures.
• Perform all responsibilities of a Driver in one of the Company's lines of business after obtaining a CDL.
