About the position

The Driver position involves operating semi tractor-trailer trucks for the transportation of nursery stock and other commodities. This full-time, seasonal role requires a minimum of three months of driving experience and entails various responsibilities including loading and unloading cargo, performing vehicle inspections, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations. The position is expected to last from March 1, 2025, to December 20, 2025, and requires the ability to work in varying conditions and shifts, including Saturdays.

Responsibilities

• Drive semi tractor-trailer truck to/from delivery or pickup destinations.
• Load and unload trailers and cargo.
• Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections and paperwork on trucks and trailers.
• Check vehicles to ensure that mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment is in good working order.
• Inspect loads to ensure that cargo is secure and check all load-related documentation for completeness and accuracy.
• Secure cargo for transport using ropes, blocks, chains, binders, or covers.
• Maneuver trucks into and out of loading and unloading positions.
• Interact with roadway officials and handle equipment and cargo carefully to prevent damage.
• Clean and maintain lights, windows, mirrors, and the vehicle exterior.
• Add engine oil and fuel as needed and perform preventative maintenance.
• Drive in various weather conditions and on both paved and unpaved roads.

Requirements

• Minimum of 3 months of prior experience driving/servicing semi tractor-trailer trucks.
• Valid driver's license, Class A CDL or equivalent required.
• Ability to lift/carry 60 lbs.
• Ability to drive in rain, snow, and other hazardous conditions.
