About The Position

The Driver's Helper position at J.P. Mascaro & Sons involves assisting the driver in safely navigating the truck and collecting curbside waste and recycling. This role is essential for maintaining efficient operations and ensuring customer satisfaction while working in a physically demanding environment.

Requirements

• Ability to stand, walk, lift, and carry for long periods of time.
• Fluency in reading, writing, and speaking English.
• Ability to lift 75 pounds.
• Ability to work outside in all types of weather.
• Ability to constantly walk and climb onto and off of the truck.
• Must be able to ride on the rear step of the truck while in motion.
• Ability to start at 5:15 am daily and work flexible hours, including overtime and weekends when necessary.

Responsibilities

• Be reliable and dependable, showing up for work on time with proper personal protective equipment.
• Help the driver safely navigate the truck, especially in backing, using proper hand signals to communicate.
• Collect curbside waste and/or recycling in a safe and efficient manner, ensuring containers are returned to their original location.
• Clean up any spilled or dropped debris and maintain polite and professional contact with customers.
• Refer customer questions or concerns to the route supervisor promptly.
• Operate packer controls to compact debris in the truck after receiving proper training.
• Assist the driver with pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and notify them of any equipment problems.
• Ensure the vehicle is kept clean and presentable according to company standards.
