About the position

The Driver's License Examiner I position at Service Oklahoma is a critical role responsible for conducting driver's license interviews, examinations, and inspections to determine eligibility for driver's licenses and state identification cards. This position serves as a frontline defense in homeland security, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations while providing excellent customer service to Oklahomans. The examiner will work at designated locations throughout an assigned district, performing various assessments and maintaining confidentiality of sensitive information.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct driver's license interviews and examinations (visual, written, and road examinations).
  • Review, inspect, and verify the legality of documents to determine eligibility for driver's licenses or state identification cards.
  • Advise applicants on disqualifying issues and procedures to resolve them, including providing expert testimony on medical disqualifications.
  • Evaluate medical, physical, or mental information provided by applicants based on state and federal standards.
  • Conduct in-depth vehicle safety inspections and administer various tests to evaluate applicants' knowledge and ability to operate a motor vehicle safely.
  • Establish and maintain driver's license records while ensuring confidentiality and security of information.
  • Assist in preparing legal cases regarding fraudulent applications and respond to inquiries from motor license agents and law enforcement agencies.
  • Conduct interviews and hearings related to driver's license suspensions, revocations, and modifications.

Requirements

  • Must be a citizen of the State of Oklahoma and a graduate of an accredited four-year high school.
  • Must be between the ages of 21 and 65 at the time of appointment.
  • Four years of technical clerical office work or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
  • Knowledge of state and federal laws regarding driving privileges and the issuance of driver's licenses is essential.
  • Ability to conduct interviews, inspect motor vehicles, and administer written and performance tests.
