About the position

The Drug Discovery Data Scientist will join Schrödinger's Therapeutics group, contributing to the mission of improving human health and quality of life. This role involves working with a diverse team of scientists and software developers to research, curate, and prepare computational chemistry and genomics data sets, while also addressing data-related technical issues. The ideal candidate will be an independent worker with a strong understanding of drug discovery processes and proficient in scripting and data visualization tools.

Responsibilities

• Research, curate, and prepare computational chemistry and genomics data sets.
• Compile, clean, and summarize results and metadata.
• Find, prepare, and maintain data, including processing proprietary data according to guidelines.
• Manage data on Google Cloud Platform and collaborate with internal or external advisors to determine data needs.
• Collect key data using a variety of public and paid scientific sources.
• Document collection and data transformation work.
• Support data-related technical issues.

Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree in a STEM field.
• Robust proficiency in data visualization tools (e.g. Tableau, Power BI, Looker).
• Experience with data management and analysis libraries in Python and/or R (e.g., Pandas, Numpy, Scipy).
• Familiarity with cloud compute and storage platforms, especially GCP.
• Experience with version control (e.g., Git).
• Knowledge of data engineering platforms and pipelining tools such as Apache Airflow.
• Experience with cheminformatics and/or bioinformatics tools (e.g. RDKit, FastQC).
• Familiarity with online sources of scientific information (e.g., NCBI PubMed, RCSB PDB, UniProtKB).

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in UNIX environments.
• Proficient scripting skills (e.g., shell, Python, R).
• Experience with open-source visualization or modeling software.
