About the position

The Drupal Automation Tester will support the development and maintenance of the Drupal content management system (CMS) for a Federal Agency's intranet and public-facing websites. This remote position requires advanced skills in automated testing, accessibility testing, and quality assurance, with a focus on ensuring the functionality and compliance of the CMS with current standards.

Responsibilities

  • Develop new automated test scenarios and maintain existing ones based on the Behat, WebDriverIO framework.
  • Execute automated test scripts.
  • Triage defects and effectively communicate with the Agile team when documenting issues.
  • Provide testing support for releases and assist with SDLC and scheduling activities.
  • Perform manual testing as needed.
  • Conduct accessibility testing based on current WCAG standards.
  • Develop PHP backend code to expand on existing Behat functionality.
  • Develop and update design documents, test documents, and training materials based on changes to the Drupal CMS.
  • Review test scripts with team members.
  • Draft and support deliverable submission.
  • Develop ideas for improving and extending the automated testing framework.
  • Work closely with other project team members using an agile workflow, communicate constantly, and attend key client or deliverable meetings as needed.
  • Report regular status updates and escalate any major decisions, issues, and risks to the appropriate team member.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience in Information Systems, Business, Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical discipline.
  • At least three (3) years of general quality assurance and testing experience.
  • At least one (1) year of recent experience (past 1-2 years) with testing Drupal 8.x, 9.x, and 10.x websites (regression testing, quality assurance).
  • At least one (1) year of experience with developing test scenarios for automated testing using Behat or a similar framework.
  • Familiarity with WCAG accessibility tools for screen readers, color contrast, etc.
  • Experience with CI/CD and GitLab, BitBucket, Jenkins, or similar.
  • Experience implementing testing code based on WCAG accessibility guidelines.
  • At least one (1) year of experience with programming languages such as PHP, Python, Perl, .NET, Ruby, Java, C#, or other languages.
  • Ability to work independently to assess and address issues.
  • Prior experience working on a cross-functional team using an agile methodology.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge and experience with industry best practices.
  • Ability to achieve close to full test coverage using various types of testing, including functional, integration, regression, and performance testing.
  • Experience with JIRA and Confluence.
  • Ability to read Spanish fluently is a plus.
