About the position
The Dry Goods Store Manager is responsible for overseeing store operations, motivating employees, and ensuring outstanding customer service. This role involves training staff, managing performance, and maintaining appropriate staffing levels while also executing sales associate duties. The manager will implement merchandising plans and address customer needs effectively.
Responsibilities
- Motivate store employees to deliver outstanding customer service
- Train, coach, and lead by example
- Execute all duties of a sales associate and keyholder
- Coordinate the interview process: conduct screenings, interviews, and references
- Maintain appropriate staffing - forecast future staffing needs
- Assess associate performance to improve the quality of service and increase sales - provide feedback and performance evaluations
- Develop associate's skills to meet store goals - conduct ongoing training for new and existing employees
- Complete payroll and time clock maintenance
- Administer employee benefit enrollment and usage
- Implement merchandising plans and monitor store's visual appearance and cleanliness
- Develop and implement solutions to solve customer problems and business needs
- Be available to work a rotation of day, evening, and weekend shifts
Requirements
- Proven experience in retail management or a similar role
- Strong leadership and motivational skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
- Ability to analyze performance metrics and develop improvement strategies
- Experience with payroll and employee benefits administration
- Knowledge of merchandising and visual presentation standards
Nice-to-haves
- Experience in the dry goods or retail industry
- Familiarity with inventory management systems
- Ability to speak multiple languages
