About the position

The DSP/Caregiver position at Hatch Haven involves providing care and support to individuals in a female-only group home setting. The role requires compassion and dedication to assist residents with their daily needs, medication administration, and maintaining a clean and organized living environment. The position offers flexible scheduling with overnight shifts and opportunities for advancement within the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Administers medications to individuals as assigned.
  • Observes individuals for any changes in behavior or health resulting from medication administration.
  • Ensures individuals are dressed neatly and appropriately and are groomed at all times.
  • Assists and encourages individuals to care for their immediate personal needs such as toileting, washing hands, and eating.
  • Prepares nutritional meals based on individual needs and preferences.
  • Encourages individuals to assist in the preparation of meals and snacks as appropriate to their individual plan.
  • Keeps the residence clean, organized, and tidy, encouraging participation in home upkeep.
  • Teaches individuals daily skills such as household chores, laundry, and cleaning as appropriate.
  • Observes individuals for evidence of injury or bruises and evaluates for changes in emotional and physical status.
  • Reports any noted problems to the Residential Program Coordinator immediately and completes a written incident report form.
  • Acts as a representative for Hatch Haven in a professional manner when required.
  • Maintains resident confidentiality and communicates with the Residential Coordinator regarding personal needs.
  • Assists the Day and Residential Coordinators in preparation for the annual Individual Planning Meeting.
  • Provides support to other team members during behavioral issues.
  • Documents all program data accurately and in a timely manner.

Requirements

  • Must possess a valid Driver's License.
  • Must have a valid CPR Certification.
  • Experience in caregiving preferred (1 year).
  • Must obtain a Level 1 Fingerprint Clearance Card.
  • Must be able to pass a background check.
