About the position

The Direct Support Professional (DSP) role involves providing essential care and support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in a group home setting. The DSP is responsible for ensuring the health, safety, and welfare of residents, assisting with personal care, medication administration, and engaging in community activities. This position requires effective communication and teamwork to enhance the quality of life for residents.

Responsibilities

• Assist and supervise individuals in personal care areas such as bathing and toileting.
• Participate in and supervise cleaning, cooking, and life skills activities.
• Administer and assist with medication administration.
• Drive residents to and from day programs and community activities using agency vehicles.
• Document services provided on a daily basis.
• Engage residents in fun community-based activities.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Valid (non-provisional) driver's license.
• Ability to meet physical requirements of CPR/First Aid and emergency evacuation procedures.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (ID/DD) population.
