About the position
The Direct Support Professional-Residential Specialist position involves providing direct care and support to individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities and visual impairments. This role includes assisting with personal care, hygiene, medication administration, and daily living skills, ensuring that individuals achieve their personal goals in a community and group home setting. The position is available in both full-time and part-time capacities, emphasizing compassion and patience in supporting individuals.
Responsibilities
- Assist individuals with personal care and hygiene.
- Administer medication as required.
- Support daily living skills for individuals with disabilities.
- Provide hands-on care in community and group home settings.
- Encourage and motivate individuals to achieve their personal goals.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Valid Driver's License in NJ with no more than 5 points.
- Ability to pass criminal background checks and drug screening.
- Experience in caregiving or working with people with disabilities.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience in medication administration.
- Knowledge of visually impaired education.
