Responsibilities

• Provide assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting, and mobility assistance.
• Administer medications following established protocols and ensure accurate documentation.
• Observe and document the individual's physical and emotional well-being, behavior, and any changes in condition.
• Ensure the safety and security of individuals by maintaining a safe environment and addressing safety concerns promptly.
• Provide emotional support and companionship to individuals, promoting their social and emotional well-being.
• Prepare or assist individuals with meal planning, preparation, and feeding according to dietary needs.
• Accompany and assist individuals during appointments, recreational activities, or community outings.
• Perform light housekeeping tasks to maintain a clean and comfortable living environment.
• Maintain effective communication with individuals, families, and interdisciplinary team members to ensure coordinated care.
• Follow all relevant state and federal regulations regarding the provision of direct care services.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• CPR and First Aid Certification may be necessary.
• 1 year of caregiving experience is required, preferably with individuals with autism.
• Demonstrated compassion and empathy towards individuals with diverse needs.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to remain patient and flexible in challenging situations.
• Physical stamina to perform tasks associated with direct care responsibilities.
• Reliability and dependability in following schedules and routines.

Nice-to-haves

• Previous experience in direct care or a related field is preferred but not always required.
• Willingness to learn and develop necessary skills is essential.
