The Direct Support Professional - Lead Float at Lutheran Social Service of Minnesota plays a crucial role in providing support and assistance to individuals with disabilities. The Lead Float will advocate for individuals in various aspects of life, including medical care and community involvement, while promoting independence in essential life skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide support and assistance to individuals in developing their natural support network.
• Advocate for individuals in all aspects of life, including medical care and community involvement.
• Assist individuals in performing essential life skills such as meal preparation, personal hygiene, medication administration, cleaning, and laundry.
• Participate in a variety of events and activities with individuals, including driving and accompanying them on overnight trips.
• Complete necessary documentation and record keeping.
• Participate in all required training and meetings.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Experience working with vulnerable populations is required.
• At least one year of experience and/or training with individuals with disabilities is preferred.
• Medication administration training is required (may be obtained after hire).
• First Aid training is required, and CPR certification may be required (may be obtained after hire).
• Mental Health certification may be required (may be obtained after hire).
• Bureau of Criminal Affairs background study clearance is required.
• A valid driver's license is required.
• Satisfactory Motor Vehicle Check (MVR) is required.
• Ability to read, write, and use a computer is required.
• Basic math and problem-solving skills are required.
• Ability to recognize boundaries and suggest strategies to enhance service is necessary.
• Patience, self-control, and flexibility are essential.
• Computer skills that support Lutheran Social Service of Minnesota (LSS) technology are required.
