About the position

The Direct Support Professional (DSP) role at CARES involves providing essential support and resources to children and adults with intellectual/developmental disabilities and mental health conditions, particularly from underserved multilingual communities. The position focuses on enhancing daily living skills and facilitating community integration for clients, primarily through direct interaction in their homes or community settings.

Responsibilities

• Work with children and their families to provide resources and support.
• Strengthen daily living skills for clients.
• Teach clients how to accomplish daily living tasks.
• Improve socialization amongst peers.
• Help clients acclimate to typical community activities.
• Assist individuals in meeting their valued outcomes as outlined in their service plan.
• Communicate effectively with families and supervisors.
• Problem solve and communicate with supervisors regarding concerns.
• Complete and submit documentation detailing activities engaged with individuals in a timely manner.
• Complete mandatory trainings.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Prefer prior experience providing direct services to individuals with developmental and/or intellectual disabilities.
• Pursuing a degree in education, social work, nursing, or psychology is preferred.
• Computer proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Ability to work independently and complete assignments within given parameters.
• Must be at least 18 years old and legally allowed to work in the US.

• Associates or Bachelor's Degree preferred, in some cases a Bachelor's Degree may be required.
