About the position

The Direct Support Professional (DSP) role at CARES involves working part-time with children and families to provide essential resources and support, particularly for those with intellectual/developmental disabilities and mental health conditions. The position focuses on enhancing daily living skills and facilitating community integration for clients, primarily in their homes or community settings.

Responsibilities

• Work with children and families to provide resources and support.
• Strengthen daily living skills for individuals with developmental disabilities or mental health challenges.
• Teach clients how to accomplish daily living tasks and improve socialization.
• Assist individuals in meeting their valued outcomes as outlined in their service plan.
• Communicate effectively with families and supervisors.
• Problem solve and communicate with supervisors regarding concerns.
• Complete and submit documentation detailing activities engaged with individuals in a timely manner.
• Complete mandatory trainings.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Prefer prior experience providing direct services to individuals with developmental and/or intellectual disabilities.
• Pursuing a degree in education, social work, nursing, or psychology is preferred.
• Computer proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Ability to work independently and complete assignments within given parameters.
• Must be at least 18 years old and legally authorized to work in the US.

Nice-to-haves

• Associates or Bachelor's Degree preferred, in some cases a Bachelor's Degree may be required.
