About the position
Active Day is seeking Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) to provide compassionate support to adults with intellectual disabilities and developmental needs. This role involves leading by example, fostering a positive environment, and focusing on community integration through vocational, recreational, and social skills support. Training is provided for candidates with no prior experience, and both full-time and part-time positions are available.
Responsibilities
- Supervising members' work production, including the operation of machinery.
- Ensuring members' work quality.
- Actively assisting in enriching members' lives by encouraging recreation, leisure activities, and community inclusion.
- Assisting members with activities of daily living and personal care as needed (e.g., arrival and departure, eating, ambulation, transferring, restroom assistance, etc.) and providing emotional support and encouragement.
- Participating in planning, facilitation, and documentation of individual behavior support plans.
- May be required to intervene in crisis situations and unexpected behaviors in accordance with approved strategies and techniques.
Requirements
- High school degree or equivalent required.
- Valid driver's license.
- At least 18 years of age.
- Ability to push, pull, bend, squat, turn, pivot, transfer, and lift at least 50 pounds.
- Able to navigate technology and to enter data/documentation.
- Ability to pass required physical exams including the Department of Transportation (DOT) physical preferred.
- Successful results of a background check, motor vehicle report, drug testing, and any other state-specific requirements.
