About the position
The Store Associate at Designer Brands is responsible for providing exceptional customer service to in-store and online shoppers. This role involves assisting customers, managing merchandise, and ensuring a clean and safe shopping environment. Store Associates act as brand ambassadors, embodying the company's values and enhancing the overall customer experience.
Responsibilities
- Greet every customer with a helpful and friendly approach, assessing their needs and providing personalized service.
- Share the benefits of the DSW Loyalty program and enroll new members.
- Answer product-related questions and complete customer transactions for in-store sales and digital orders.
- Maintain a neat, clean, and safe shopping environment by performing regular housekeeping tasks.
- Receive inbound freight and prepare merchandise for the sales floor according to DSW standards.
- Complete all functions of the fulfillment process, including locating items and ensuring readiness for pick up/delivery.
- Utilize company tools to search for product availability and assist customers in ordering.
- Participate in daily team meetings and ongoing training, demonstrating teamwork and inclusivity.
- Follow DSW's policies and procedures during customer transactions, ensuring accuracy in cash handling.
- Partner with the Customer Experience Leader (CEL) to address escalated customer service issues.
Requirements

- Ability to work efficiently to meet time-bound expectations.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficient in using technology for customer interactions, including registers and mobile devices.
- Ability to stand or walk for up to 100% of working time.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds on an occasional to frequent basis.
- Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl frequently.
