About the position

The Store Associate at Designer Brands is responsible for providing exceptional customer service to in-store and online shoppers. This role involves assisting customers, managing merchandise, and ensuring a clean and safe shopping environment. Store Associates act as brand ambassadors, embodying the company's values and enhancing the overall customer experience.

Responsibilities

• Greet every customer with a helpful and friendly approach, matching their needs with an elevated level of service.
• Share the benefits of the DSW Loyalty program and enroll new members.
• Answer questions regarding products and complete customer transactions through in-store sales or digital orders.
• Maintain a neat, clean, and safe environment for customers, including clearing trash and cleaning public areas.
• Receive inbound freight and prepare merchandise for the sales floor according to DSW standards.
• Complete all functions of the fulfillment process, including locating items and packaging for pick up/delivery.
• Use company tools to search product availability for customers.
• Participate in daily team meetings and ongoing training, demonstrating teamwork and inclusivity.
• Complete customer transactions accurately, following DSW's policies and procedures.
• Partner with the Customer Experience Leader when service issues escalate.

Requirements

• Availability to meet the needs of the business.
• Professional, friendly, and customer service focused.
• Ability to move with tempo to meet time-bound expectations.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficient in technology for customer interactions (Register, iPhone, Calculator).
• Ability to spend up to 100% of working time standing or walking around the store.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds on an occasional to frequent basis.
• Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl on a frequent basis.

• Previous retail experience (not required).
