About the position

The Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City is seeking a Cloud DevOps Engineer to join the Treasury Data Transparency & Strategy (DTAS) team. This role involves collaborating with tech professionals to enhance the operational stability of platforms supporting multiple development teams and applications. The engineer will focus on infrastructure, operations, CI/CD, data management, and information security, ensuring the efficient delivery of data and maintaining site availability and security.

Responsibilities

  • Apply software engineering principles to design, implement, configure, and optimize solutions for applications and databases.
  • Demonstrate technical skills in programming languages such as Python and SQL, as well as domain-specific languages as needed.
  • Conduct peer reviews using software engineering principles and development guidelines.
  • Collaborate with customers to develop innovative solutions that meet business goals.
  • Review and analyze business and technical requirements to implement technical solutions.
  • Provide on-call support, troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and incident management for supported products and environments.
  • Execute recurring operations and maintenance tasks such as data snapshotting, archiving, and security patching.

Requirements

  • 3-6+ years of relevant experience in a related field.
  • Bachelor's degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) or a closely related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • In-depth knowledge in the discipline with the ability to work independently with limited supervision.
  • Experience in DevOps practices and Agile SDLC.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with AWS for application and infrastructure management.
  • Ability to write application code and automation scripts in an organized manner.
  • Familiarity with Python, Ansible, Terraform, and containerization technologies.
  • Experience managing large data sources and data flow for public and analytical use.
  • Understanding of modern agile software development processes.
  • Experience with Jenkins pipelines for automation.
