About the position

The Dual Hotel Chief Engineering Manager is a key member of the property management team responsible for overseeing the engineering operations of both the Courtyard and Residence Inn by Marriott hotels. This role ensures the proper functioning of hotel facilities, including plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and pool maintenance, while maintaining high-quality standards to minimize guest disruption. The Chief Engineering Manager will report directly to the General Manager and will play a crucial role in maintaining safety and operational efficiency within the hotels.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and maintain the operations and functions of both the interior and exterior areas of the property.
  • Communicate operational activities, priorities, and problems with management engineers and supervisors.
  • Perform necessary construction trades, including plumbing, electrical, carpentry, HVAC, pool maintenance, painting, and caulking.
  • Train others in maintenance trades as needed.
  • Follow guidelines established by McKibbon Hospitality to protect company assets and ensure safety for associates and guests.
  • Interact positively with associates and guests.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in a lead maintenance position.
  • Experience working in a hotel establishment is highly desired.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Knowledge and ability to negotiate with service companies or contractors for the best price for services.
  • Ability to estimate time required to complete maintenance work.
  • Knowledge of common causes of equipment malfunction and preventative maintenance methods.
  • Certified Pool Operator certification to test pool and spa chemicals.
  • Ability to identify appropriate tools, parts, and equipment for maintenance jobs.
  • Basic knowledge of heating and air-conditioning repair and replacement.
  • Basic painting and caulking skills.
  • Ability to use standard hand tools such as wrenches, pliers, screwdrivers, and hammers.

  • Knowledge to determine the best action in response to customer complaints or inquiries.
  • Skills in the use of fire equipment and conducting fire drills.
