About the position

The Bar Manager position at our busy Upper West Side restaurant is designed for a passionate and driven professional who excels in leading vibrant bar and service teams. This role focuses on managing bar operations while ensuring exceptional guest experiences in a high-energy environment that embodies California vibes and hospitality excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily bar operations, including inventory, ordering, and maintaining beverage quality standards.
  • Lead and mentor bartenders to deliver outstanding cocktails and service.
  • Ensure compliance with alcohol safety regulations and best practices.
  • Actively manage FOH operations during shifts, resolving guest concerns, supporting staff, and fostering a welcoming atmosphere.
  • Collaborate with the GM to implement training programs for service staff and bartenders.
  • Coordinate daily pre-shift meetings to align teams on service standards and goals.
  • Recruit, onboard, and coach FOH staff, fostering a culture of growth and accountability.
  • Assist with scheduling, retention efforts, and performance management.
  • Analyze and manage labor costs to align with business needs.
  • Maintain a clean, safe environment that meets health department guidelines.
  • Support marketing and sales strategies to achieve financial targets.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in bar and restaurant management, ideally in fast-paced, high-volume settings.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills with a guest-first mindset.
  • Expertise in bar operations, including mixology, inventory management, and bar team leadership.
  • A collaborative attitude, passion for hospitality, and a desire to grow in the industry.
