About the position

The eAcute Virtual Med-Surg Nurse plays a crucial role in the Virtual Care Command Center at CoxHealth, where advanced technology is utilized to enhance patient monitoring from admission to discharge. This innovative branch of healthcare allows virtual nurses to support bedside RNs by managing various tasks that lighten their workload, including monitoring vital signs, assisting with admissions and discharges, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team of virtual physicians, pharmacists, respiratory therapists, and the Early Intervention Team. The virtual nurse is responsible for ensuring that patients receive high-quality care through real-time surveillance of quality and patient safety, making this position pivotal in the healthcare delivery process. In this role, the eAcute Virtual Med-Surg Nurse will assist in managing the care of adult and geriatric patients experiencing general medical conditions or surgical procedures. Responsibilities include completing the admission and discharge processes, developing and maintaining care plans, providing patient education, and coordinating care. The nurse will also mentor new staff and implement evidence-based care practices. Responsibilities

  • Assist with managing the care of adult or geriatric patients experiencing general medical conditions or surgical procedures.
  • Complete the admission and discharge processes for patients.
  • Develop and maintain care plans for patients.
  • Provide patient education and medication discharge teaching.
  • Coordinate care and collaborate with bedside RNs and other healthcare professionals.
  • Mentor new nurses and support their integration into the team.
  • Implement evidence-based care practices and ensure quality and patient safety surveillance.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
  • Minimum of two years previous nursing experience on an inpatient nursing unit.
  • Active RN license in the state of Missouri.
  • BLS certification must be obtained within 90 days of hire.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing.
  • Charge nurse or preceptor experience.
  • Specialty nursing certification.
