About the position

The Data Architect at STERIS is responsible for leading data engineering activities and overseeing the design, development, deployment, and maintenance of scalable data solutions. This role involves collaborating with various stakeholders to support business needs in analytical projects, ensuring data quality, security, and compliance, while also providing technical leadership and mentorship to the data engineering team.

Responsibilities

• Define, plan, design, and support the implementation of enterprise data architectures and platforms.
• Plan and lead data engineering activities for strategic, large, and complex programs.
• Facilitate technical transitions between development, testing, and production phases of solutions' lifecycle.
• Develop organizational policies, standards, and guidelines for the secure operation of data services and products.
• Coordinate the application of analysis, design, and modelling techniques to maintain data structures.
• Collaborate with IT teams and business community to meet business requirements.
• Set standards for data modelling and design tools and techniques, ensuring compliance.
• Manage the investigation of enterprise data requirements based on information needs.
• Ensure data reliability, security, and timeliness through governance and quality practices.
• Plan and facilitate training and Data Literacy initiatives for the team and end-user community.
• Ensure standards and best practices in documentation of Metadata and Data Engineering processes.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Data Science, Analytics, or a related field.
• 7 years' experience in data architecture and engineering.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with cloud data platforms.
• Knowledge of data governance frameworks.
• Familiarity with machine learning concepts.
