About the position

TikTok is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented eDiscovery Document Reviewer to join our legal team. This position plays a crucial role in leading and supervising projects across the electronic discovery lifecycle, which includes the identification, preservation, collection, processing, analysis, review, and production of Electronically Stored Information (ESI). The eDiscovery Document Reviewer will collaborate closely with various legal department case teams on active litigation and regulatory actions for the company, ensuring compliance with legal requirements and discovery protocols. In this role, the eDiscovery Document Reviewer will be responsible for reviewing and analyzing the company's data in both English and Mandarin. This includes conducting document reviews, issue coding, responsiveness review, confidentiality review, and privilege review, both internally and in collaboration with outside counsel. The position requires a strong understanding of the e-discovery process, including evolving case law standards and rules, as well as industry trends and technologies related to e-discovery and litigation support services. The eDiscovery Document Reviewer will work closely with eDiscovery team members to leverage early case assessment strategies for data analysis, culling, and other data mining activities. This role also involves tracking ESI through its lifecycle, from preservation and collection to processing and production. The successful candidate will maintain a detailed familiarity with vendor platforms to navigate and conduct efficient document reviews, providing support to case teams utilizing those platforms. Additionally, the eDiscovery Document Reviewer will collaborate with legal teams to create, modify, and implement quality assurance processes and procedures to ensure consistency and accuracy across documents in the review population.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct and collaborate on document reviews, issue coding, responsiveness review, confidentiality review, and privilege review both internally and with outside counsel.
  • Work closely with eDiscovery team members in leveraging early case assessment strategies to conduct data analysis, culling and other data mining activities.
  • Collaborate with Legal case teams on the identification of custodians and data sources.
  • Track ESI through its lifecycle including preservation, collection, processing, export to outside counsel and production.
  • Leverage advanced technology to advance the company's goals and outcomes throughout the litigation life cycle.
  • Maintain detailed familiarity with vendor platforms to navigate and conduct efficient document review; provide support to case teams utilizing those platforms.
  • Collaborate with legal teams to create, modify and implement quality assurance processes and procedures to ensure consistency and accuracy across documents in the review population.

Requirements

  • Thorough knowledge of the e-discovery process, including evolving case law standards and rules, industry trends, and e-discovery/litigation support services and technologies.
  • Proven track record of managing competing priorities with a high degree of professionalism and accuracy.
  • Ability to strategically solve problems, ensuring long-term planning and comprehension of broader impacts of decisions.
  • Exhibits strong time management skills, consistently meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Professional proficiency in Mandarin and English, with the ability to speak, analyze, and review Mandarin language documents for relevance, privilege, and issue coding.
