About the position

The eFIN Team at Vistra is seeking an experienced engineer to provide emergent and near-term engineering support across various disciplines, including mechanical, civil, electrical, and instrumentation & control. This role requires independent task identification and execution to meet objectives while establishing effective working relationships. The position emphasizes extensive knowledge in Civil/Structural design engineering, particularly in building and structures inspection, dam inspection, heavy load evaluations, and rigging evaluations.

Responsibilities

  • Protect work week schedule by supporting resolution of emergent, short cycle, and near-term engineering work
  • Act as the engineering point of contact for execution of online work week schedule and resolution of online Engineering Holds
  • Provide engineering support for the Operability process, including Input to Operability and Prompt Operability Evaluations
  • Support engineering post work testing
  • Offer technical support for the PROMPT Team and Maintenance Engineering to resolve operating challenges
  • Assist in planning support for emergent questions and in-field activities
  • Provide emergent complex troubleshooting support, including FMEA and Confirm/Refute
  • Prepare Minor Design Modifications as needed
  • Identify and perform tasks required to meet objectives
  • Lead interpretation and analysis of complex issues
  • Coordinate assigned projects, studies, and initiatives through completion
  • Comply with safety policy and procedures to ensure a safe working environment
  • Prepare and present reports with recommendations to resolve complex issues
  • Participate in and occasionally lead special projects and committees
  • Lead complex problem-solving efforts
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field (4 years)
  • 6 years of related job experience
  • Extensive knowledge in Civil/Structural design engineering, including building and structures inspection, dam inspection, heavy load evaluations, and rigging evaluations
  • Experience with analysis of support structures and seismic qualification of equipment preferred
  • Proficient computer skills in standard Windows programs (Excel, Word, etc.)
  • Strong teamwork and collaboration skills across organizational boundaries
  • Effective communication of complex issues through written and verbal means
  • Ability to influence by establishing effective working relationships across organizational boundaries
  • In-depth understanding of power plant equipment and systems
  • Ability to evaluate technical alternatives in light of their economic contribution to the business
  • Ability to apply systematic problem-solving processes to address complex issues.
