About the position

The eLearning Instructional Designer - Accessibility at Tarrant County College is responsible for coordinating and facilitating online course development services and faculty training, with a focus on creating accessible online learning materials. This role involves providing technical leadership, conducting accessibility reviews, and supporting faculty in developing compliant course content. The position requires collaboration with various stakeholders to ensure that online courses meet institutional, state, and federal accessibility standards.

Responsibilities

  • Provides central oversight, technical leadership, and guidance for creating accessible online learning objects and course content.
  • Assists in the development and remediation of course materials to meet accessibility standards.
  • Oversees training and support of faculty and staff in online accessibility.
  • Conducts accessibility reviews of online and hybrid courses.
  • Coordinates online instructional design projects from inception to completion.
  • Provides instructional design and course development support to online faculty.
  • Assists in developing online instructional strategies, course materials, and assessments.
  • Supports online faculty certification training.
  • Designs, develops, facilitates, and maintains training curriculum for TCC Connect instructors.
  • Researches and recommends online learning technology solutions.
  • Provides regular updates on online course development projects to the Senior Instructional Designer.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in education, instructional design, instructional technology, or a related field.
  • Two years of secondary or post-secondary teaching experience.
  • Two years of experience in course development or related training.
  • One year of experience working with learning management systems.
  • One year of experience with website design and development, including accessibility compliance techniques.

Nice-to-haves

  • Quality Matters APPQMR Certification (Rubric 7).
  • At least two years of working experience in online secondary or post-secondary teaching.
  • Experience with proprietary learning technology solutions.
  • Experience with research methodologies and techniques for instructional design and development.
  • Experience with ADA, W3C, and 508 compliance.
