About the position

As a Software Engineer and Resident Engineer at Valeo, you will serve as a key technical liaison with customers, supporting software development, implementation, and integration for various power electronics products. This role involves hands-on support at customer sites, ensuring effective communication between internal teams and customers, and troubleshooting issues during vehicle testing and production. You will play a crucial role in driving innovative solutions for greener and safer mobility.

Responsibilities

  • Lead communication between customer and internal teams, ensuring proper communication with customers, program management, engineering product groups, commercial, R&D, test, warranty, and logistics.
  • Support software deliverable definition by release including usage, release documentation.
  • Be on-site at customer locations for hands-on support of component integration and vehicle testing, including onsite flashing, troubleshooting, and debugging during customer bench testing and vehicle production.
  • Support all troubleshooting, problem-solving, and root cause analysis activities on field issues during customer builds through program launch with support of all VSeA teams.
  • Report and escalate to technical project manager or R&D manager as needed to ensure successful launch.
  • Support discussions with customer software teams on architecture, strategy, integration, and implementation.
  • Ensure proper communication with customers & global product teams, reviewing engineering documents with the customer and providing feedback to customer questions.
  • Interpret and cascade customer and platform requests and needs.

Requirements

  • B.S. in Electrical Engineering or comparable study paths required.
  • M.S. in Electrical Engineering or comparable study path preferred.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of professional experience in Software Development & vehicle electrification at an OEM or Tier 1.
  • Hands-on troubleshooting and debugging experience required, including experience with tools like Lauterbach, UDE, I-system.
  • Hands-on experience with hardware testing and measurement tools.
  • Good knowledge in Embedded systems concepts and Microcontrollers.
  • Experience of Software development and implementation methods and tools, including V-cycle activities.
  • Problem solving/root-cause analysis experience.
  • Experienced in Requirement management, traceability, and configuration management.
  • Good understanding of Diagnostics (UDS, OBD, XCP, etc.).
  • Knowledge in communication protocols CAN, CAN-FD, LIN, etc.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of ASPICE standards and processes is a plus.
  • Knowledge of Cyber security and HSM configuration is a plus.
  • Knowledge of Safety ISO 26262 is a plus.
