About the position

The eStore In-Store Shopper at H-E-B is a part-time role focused on providing excellent customer service while fulfilling online orders. The position involves selecting, sorting, and unloading items to complete eCommerce orders, ensuring that customers receive their products in a timely and efficient manner. The role emphasizes a commitment to quality, teamwork, and a customer-first approach, making it essential for candidates to have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Select merchandise from the sales floor to complete customer online orders.
  • Sort and unload selected merchandise into refrigeration, frozen, or dry storage holding areas.
  • Use a digital tool to select items necessary to complete online orders, pack and put away orders in the staging area, and retrieve orders for customers.
  • Make decisions on customers' behalf if requested items are unavailable.
  • Provide superior customer service; answer product-related questions, locate products, and assist in-store customers as needed.
  • Return extra or unwanted products to their proper in-store location.
  • Communicate continuously with department managers and partners to locate products.
  • Minimize shrink through careful handling of products.
  • Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and achieve productivity standards.
  • Perform eStore Curbie duties as needed.
  • Comply with federal, state, and company regulations/standards for product freshness, food safety, and sanitation.
  • Gather baskets and pick up trash inside and outside the eStore as needed.
  • Maintain and stock bag areas, organize carts, and maintain cleanliness within the eStore.

Requirements

  • Minimum age of 16 years.
  • High school diploma or equivalent (preferred).
  • 3+ months of experience as a Curbie or related experience.
  • Experience in personal shopping is a plus.
  • Completion of all required training upon hire (e.g., Alcohol Seller's Training).
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Ability to make effective decisions on behalf of the customer with limited information.
  • Ability to prioritize and handle cross-functional tasks.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in personal shopping.
  • Completion of Alcohol Seller's Training.
