About the position

The E T Consultant - Financial Operations position at the World Bank Group involves managing and supporting the financial operations related to loans, equity, and short-term finance products. The role is crucial for ensuring accurate transaction processing, financial reporting, and operational efficiency within the Controllers Department. The consultant will work closely with various business partners to enhance processes and controls while contributing to the implementation of new financial products and IT systems.

Responsibilities

• Work closely with assigned business partners to ensure timely and accurate processing of debt and equity transactions across the lifecycle of the IFC investment.
• Process and monitor transaction processing, perform reconciliation, and resolve issues in support of the unit operational activities, in accordance with policies and procedures.
• Liaise with Investment Officers and downstream business partners to ensure projects are booked and processed accurately, and unique reporting requirements are met.
• Coordinate with CNTFO business partners to plan, execute, and monitor the operational implementation of new products, initiatives, and IT projects.
• Identify opportunities for improvements in current processes and support efforts to enhance controls.
• Provide operational support on accounting transactions and accounting schemas to ensure the integrity of reporting in Financial Statements.
• Ensure that technical accounting conclusions for complex investment modification transactions are recorded accurately in the Loan system.
• Perform reconciliations and review accounting transactions, identify transaction processing anomalies, and suggest corrective measures as part of the month-end closing process.
• Participate in the design and development of accounting schemas for new business events to ensure end-to-end integration across systems including end-to-end testing of systems.
• Support implementation of loan accounting-related IT system and other transformation initiatives.
• Look for opportunities to improve processes and internal controls.
• Support the Team Lead in implementing and maintaining processes to identify, measure, monitor, mitigate, and report operational risk within the Loan and Equity team.

Requirements

• Master's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field; CPA, CFA, or equivalent is a plus.
• At least 5 years of relevant accounting experience in international financial instruments, loans, and equity transactions, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Working knowledge of one or more complex, highly integrated accounting systems, and financial reporting tools.
• Working knowledge of database query languages and reporting tools is advantageous.
• Understanding of accounting concepts and knowledge of IFC's Financial Products is a plus.
• Applied knowledge of operational risk characteristics, including reporting and Key Risk Indicators (KRIs).
• Demonstrated high-level of initiative, self-confidence, and a self-starter.
• Strong interpersonal skills and commitment to working in a team-oriented, multicultural environment; detail-oriented.
• Proven capacity to multi-task, deliver results, and respond quickly and effectively to requests.
• Ability to assist the development of IT projects, identify opportunities for automation, and propose sustainable solutions to improve operational efficiency.
• Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills.

• Experience with private sector and/or IFC operations is a plus.
