About the position

Westinghouse Electric Company is seeking a skilled and motivated Senior Software Developer to join our innovative manufacturing team. This position plays a crucial role in supporting our mission to provide clean energy solutions by designing, developing, and maintaining software applications that enhance our manufacturing processes. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in software development, particularly within a manufacturing environment, and will be responsible for improving efficiency and supporting our commitment to quality and innovation. In this role, you will be tasked with the design, development, testing, and deployment of software applications and systems that support various manufacturing processes. You will also integrate software solutions with existing manufacturing equipment and enterprise systems to ensure seamless operation and data flow. Collaboration is key, as you will work closely with manufacturing engineers and operations teams to identify areas for process improvement and develop software solutions to address these needs. Ongoing support and maintenance for existing software applications will also be part of your responsibilities, including troubleshooting and resolving issues as they arise. You will create and maintain comprehensive documentation for all software applications and systems, including design specifications, user manuals, and technical guides. Quality assurance is paramount, and you will conduct rigorous testing of software applications to ensure they meet quality standards and perform reliably in a manufacturing environment. Staying updated with the latest trends and technologies in software development and manufacturing will be essential to continually bring innovative solutions to the company.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test, and deploy software applications and systems to support manufacturing processes.
  • Integrate software solutions with existing manufacturing equipment and enterprise systems to ensure seamless operation and data flow.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing engineers and operations teams to identify areas for process improvement and develop software solutions to address these needs.
  • Provide ongoing support and maintenance for existing software applications, including troubleshooting and resolving issues as they arise.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for all software applications and systems, including design specifications, user manuals, and technical guides.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including IT, manufacturing, quality assurance, and production, to ensure that software solutions meet the needs of all stakeholders.
  • Conduct rigorous testing of software applications to ensure they meet quality standards and perform reliably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Stay updated with the latest trends and technologies in software development and manufacturing to continually bring innovative solutions to the company.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in software development, preferably within a manufacturing or industrial setting.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as C#, Java, Python, or similar.
  • Experience with PLC programming, SCADA systems, and manufacturing execution systems (MES) is highly desirable.
  • Strong knowledge of database systems such as SQL Server, Oracle, or MySQL.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex software and system issues.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously, with a focus on delivering high-quality results on time.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Industry 4.0 technologies, IoT, and smart manufacturing solutions.
