About the position

The Senior Cloud Virtual Desktop Infrastructure Engineer at EXPANSIA is responsible for architecting, planning, and implementing desktop virtualization technology to support the Department of the Air Force's EITaaS Program. This role involves designing and maintaining the VDI infrastructure, optimizing performance, and ensuring compliance with security standards. The engineer will work collaboratively in a team environment to provide solutions for cloud networking and support the transition of IT services to a more advanced enterprise model.

Responsibilities

• Design and architect Azure Virtual Desktop or similar VDI solutions that align with organizational goals.
• Implement and maintain security best practices for AVD/VDI and ensure compliance controls are enabled.
• Monitor AVD/VDI performance, identify potential issues, and recommend solutions.
• Develop and maintain automation scripts and processes for provisioning and configuration management.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support application development and deployment.
• Create and maintain documentation of architectures, configurations, and operational procedures.

Requirements

• Active Secret Clearance required.
• Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field and 10 years' experience, or equivalent experience with an Associate's or Master's Degree.
• Current CISSP, CCNA, CCNP, or Security+ certification.
• 7+ years' experience with Virtual Desktop capabilities, preferably Azure Virtual Desktop/AVD.
• 5+ years' experience in Windows Zero Touch Installation (ZTI) build and deployment.
• 5+ years' experience configuring and supporting Active Directory Domain Services (ADDS).
• 5+ years' experience managing cloud infrastructure, preferably Azure.
• Strong Windows Operating System installation and administration experience.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.

Nice-to-haves

• Azure DevOps Engineering Expert certification.
• Experience with Terraform deployments.
• Experience with Windows Smartcard authentication.
• 15 years of experience with a Bachelor's Degree is preferred.
