The Technical Project Manager I or II position at the Texas Department of Transportation involves advanced project management responsibilities in engineering and construction. Responsibilities
- Consult with Project Engineers, resident project representatives, and contractors' superintendents on work progress and construction problems.
- Review equipment utilization data and time/cost estimates.
- Direct, develop, and evaluate projects using accepted project management methodologies.
- Inspect construction methods, workmanship, and maintenance procedures to ensure compliance with plans and specifications.
- Oversee construction project assignments and coordinate scheduling to accommodate ongoing projects.
- Provide technical assistance in resolving construction problems related to contract administration.
- Serve as a project leader or assistant project/team leader, coordinating planning and scheduling during project phases.
- Train professional and technical staff.
- Compile and distribute project information, status reports, and budget expenditures.
- Create documentation procedures to manage changes in the original project plan.
- Monitor and manage project quality to ensure deliverables meet contract specifications.
Requirements
- Experience in project management, particularly in engineering or construction.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Knowledge of state and federal laws related to construction projects.
- Ability to perform quality assurance and quality control on technical projects.
- Experience in consulting with various stakeholders including engineers and contractors.
