About the position

The EAP Clinical Counselor position at CVS Health is a fully remote role focused on providing telephone-based assessment, triage, consultation, counseling, and informational services in a call center environment. The counselor will utilize advanced clinical assessments and motivational interviewing techniques to assist members with mental health and substance abuse issues, ensuring they receive appropriate care and resources. This role emphasizes collaboration with professional teams to achieve positive clinical outcomes and maintain confidentiality while documenting necessary information.

Responsibilities

  • Provide telephone-based assessment, triage, consultation, and counseling services in a call center environment.
  • Conduct risk, substance abuse, and mental health assessments to develop immediate action and safety plans.
  • Understand various levels of care to recommend appropriate treatment based on assessments.
  • Collaborate with members to understand their needs and align with their theory of change.
  • Provide information regarding mental health, substance abuse, and community treatment resources to members.
  • Maintain accurate documentation that meets risk management and regulatory requirements.
  • Protect the confidentiality of member information and adhere to EAP policies regarding confidentiality.
  • Maintain current independent behavioral health license in good standing and seek professional development.

Requirements

  • 1+ years of crisis intervention skills.
  • Valid unrestricted independent professional behavioral health clinical license to practice per state regulations in the state of residence (e.g., LPC, LP, LMFT, LCSW, etc.).

Nice-to-haves

  • 1+ years of EAP, Behavioral Health, or Social Services experience.
  • Experience working with diverse populations.
  • Familiarity with brief therapy models and Motivational Interviewing.
  • Call Center work experience preferred.
  • Ability to establish and maintain rapport quickly with members.
  • Experience in facilitating patient/client positive behavior change.
  • Strong computer and literacy skills.
  • Experience in handling mental health, psychiatric care, family situations, and relationship concerns.
