This opportunity at WSP is for an Early Career Civil Engineer in our Kansas City office, where you will be involved in projects with our Transportation Team. As part of a growing organization, you will help meet our clients' objectives and solve their challenges. Your role will include providing local technical assistance for the design, development, and construction of infrastructure projects and systems in both the public and private sectors. You will engage in tasks that may include basic assistance with the research, design, concept development, and construction of roads, buildings, tunnels, dams, bridges, water supply systems, and sewage treatment facilities. Your responsibilities will also involve generating accurate and concise documentation regarding assigned aspects of the project, ensuring that all responsibilities are delivered with a level of quality that meets or exceeds acceptable industry standards for design, safety, and functionality. Under general supervision, you will assist with collecting, compiling, and analyzing data from various sources such as physical work sites, surveys, blueprints, GIS data, subsurface utility information, maps, and geotechnical data for project development, design, and construction. You will perform basic professional civil engineering work, which includes conducting research and inspections of proposed and existing site conditions, resources, and infrastructure to ensure compliance with applicable rules, standards, and construction or operating permits. Your role will also involve routine engineering functions and providing entry-level technical assistance on various design requirements and operating strategies to ensure the safety and functionality of end-users, systems, and infrastructure. Additionally, you will generate complete, accurate, and concise documentation using electronic systems, drawings, and field/work site notebooks/logs. Compliance with safety guidelines and site-specific procedures is essential, including location data, statistical documentation, engineering studies, and surveys. You will complete training on assigned tasks and exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds and resources, adhering to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies. This position may also require you to perform additional responsibilities as needed by business demands.
