About the position

WSP is seeking an Early Career Civil Engineer to join our Southwest Mountain District in Lakewood, CO. This role involves supporting the Earth & Environment Team by providing technical assistance for the design, development, and construction of infrastructure projects. The engineer will engage in various tasks including research, design, and documentation for civil and environmental projects, ensuring adherence to industry standards and safety guidelines.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with collecting, compiling, and analyzing data from various sources for project development.
  • Perform basic professional civil engineering work including research and inspections of site conditions.
  • Provide entry-level technical assistance on design requirements and operating strategies.
  • Conduct construction quality assurance (CQA) on projects involving earthworks or geosynthetic liner deployment.
  • Generate accurate documentation using electronic systems and field logs.
  • Comply with safety guidelines and site-specific procedures.
  • Complete training on assigned tasks and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or closely related discipline.
  • 0 to 1 years of relevant post-education experience.
  • Excellent research skills with an analytical mindset.
  • Familiarity with design/build processes and civil construction laws.
  • Competent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proficient self-leadership with attention to detail and multi-tasking abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Basic proficiency with technical writing and office automation tools.
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety.

Nice-to-haves

  • Engineer in Training Certification.
  • Familiarity with design software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, ArcGIS, HEC-HMS.
  • Prior internship related to the degree of study.
  • Active participation in local professional practice organizations.
