About the position

WSP is seeking a Full-Time Early Career Electrical Engineer to join our Property and Buildings Team in Columbia, MD. This role involves providing technical assistance for various projects, including the design and construction of utility, industrial, and commercial scale projects. The engineer will assist in research, design, and documentation processes while ensuring compliance with industry standards and safety guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Assist with collecting, compiling, and analyzing data related to substation components and equipment specifications.
• Perform basic professional electrical engineering work related to design diagrams and layouts.
• Provide entry-level technical assistance on design requirements and equipment sizing.
• Develop electrical calculations for loads, equipment sizing, and power distribution.
• Generate accurate documentation using electronic systems and field logs.
• Comply with safety guidelines and site-specific procedures.
• Complete training on assigned tasks and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering.
• 0 to 1 years of relevant post-education experience.
• Excellent research skills with an analytical mindset.
• General understanding of electrical engineering principles.
• Familiarity with engineering and electrical construction laws and regulations.
• Competent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Proficient self-leadership with attention to detail and multi-tasking abilities.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Basic proficiency with technical writing and office automation tools.
• Familiarity with discipline-specific design software.

• Engineer in Training Certification (December 2024/May 2025 graduates).
