About the position

WSP is seeking a Full Time Early Career Electrical Engineer for its Dallas, TX office. This role involves providing technical assistance for various projects in the public and private sectors, including utility, industrial, and commercial scale projects. The engineer will assist in the design, development, and construction of electrical systems, ensuring compliance with industry standards and safety regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with collecting, compiling, and analyzing data related to substation components and equipment specifications.
  • Perform basic professional electrical engineering work related to design diagrams and layouts.
  • Provide entry-level technical assistance on design requirements, equipment sizing, and cabling.
  • Verify site characteristics and provide technical assistance on engineering and construction procedures.
  • Develop electrical calculations for loads, equipment sizing, and power distribution.
  • Generate accurate documentation using electronic systems and field logs.
  • Comply with safety guidelines and site-specific procedures.
  • Complete training on assigned tasks and adhere to company policies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • 0 to 1 years of relevant post-education experience.
  • Excellent research skills with an analytical mindset.
  • General understanding of electrical engineering in design engineering of large capital projects.
  • Familiarity with engineering and electrical construction laws, codes, and compliance practices.
  • Competent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proficient self-leadership with attention to detail and multi-tasking abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Basic proficiency with technical writing and office automation tools.
  • Familiarity with discipline-specific design software (e.g., CADD, AutoCADD electrical).
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety.

Nice-to-haves

  • Engineer in Training Certification.
  • Experience with Revit.
  • Prior internship related to the degree of study.
  • Membership in local professional practice organizations.
