About the position

As a Junior Electrical Engineer at Jacobs, you will play a crucial role in overseeing contractor daily work activities for a significant Department of Energy project located in Oak Ridge, TN. This position is not just about technical expertise; it is about engaging with clients and ensuring that every aspect of the project meets the highest standards of quality, schedule adherence, and cost-effectiveness. You will be involved in various tasks including planning, field oversight, inspections, scheduling, general design, design change disposition, and procurement tasks as assigned. In this client-facing role, you will be expected to perform design calculations and evaluations as needed for the project. Effective communication is key, as you will maintain continuous dialogue with the Contract Manager, Project Controls Manager, Senior Engineers, and Client personnel. The position requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and a commitment to delivering your best work, which is essential for your professional growth and success within the company. You will also be expected to navigate various field conditions, which may include walking long distances over rough terrain and exposure to weather elements while conducting inspections and oversight in the field.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee contractor daily work activity for a Department of Energy project in Oak Ridge, TN.
  • Perform design calculations and evaluations as needed for the project.
  • Participate in planning, field oversight, inspections, scheduling, general design, design change disposition, and procurement tasks as assigned.
  • Maintain continuous communication with the Contract Manager, Project Controls Manager, Senior Engineer(s), and Client personnel.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Eligibility to obtain a Professional Engineering registration within six years.
  • Current EIT certification.
  • Working knowledge of computer software systems for processing Submittals, including Microsoft Office Suite and Databases.
  • Ability to walk long distances over potential rough terrain in all types of typical weather conditions.
  • USA citizenship is required (No dual citizenship).

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree in Engineering.
  • Nuclear project experience.
  • Experience with Industrial or DOE projects.
  • NQA-1 experience.
  • Knowledge of Engineering and construction practices, and the ability to read and interpret plans and specifications and technical submittals for compliance.
  • Subcontract Technical Representative experience.
  • Cost and Schedule experience.
  • OSHA 10 Hour Construction Training.
  • Desire to rotate into design engineering at completion of project at the Oak Ridge, TN office.
