About the position

Geosyntec is seeking an Early-Career Engineer or Scientist to join their environmental practice in Kennesaw, GA. This role involves applying geologic skills to projects related to contaminated site assessment and remediation, construction management, environmental compliance, and forensic investigations. The position offers the opportunity to develop both technical and business skills essential for a successful consulting career in a leading international engineering and consulting firm.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct field work, site investigation, and characterization including sediment, soil, surface water, air monitoring, and groundwater sampling.
  • Assist in the development of geologic models using EVS or Leapfrog for site conceptualization and groundwater modeling using MODFLOW.
  • Analyze and visualize site investigation data, preparing tables, maps, and figures using industry-standard applications.
  • Provide environmental due diligence, regulatory compliance services, and permitting support.
  • Conduct aquifer testing and hydrogeologic data analyses.
  • Design and implement sampling plans and pilot test programs for contamination assessment.
  • Assess water risks and vulnerabilities, prioritizing social, environmental, economic, strategic, and operational risks.
  • Support fate and transport modeling, natural attenuation evaluations, and risk assessments.
  • Conduct remedy evaluations, cost estimating, and support remedial implementation.
  • Prepare written documents such as proposals, work plans, and investigative reports.
  • Assist in business development activities and proposal development.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in environmental, civil or chemical engineering, environmental science, or a related field (required).
  • Strong oral and technical writing skills (required).
  • Valid U.S. driver's license and satisfactory driving record for business travel (required).
  • Regular field work and overnight travel (required).
  • Health & Safety training, medical monitoring, and client-driven drug and background testing (required).

Nice-to-haves

  • Advanced degree in environmental, civil or chemical engineering, environmental science, or a related field (preferred).
  • Fundamentals of Engineering or Professional Engineer (P.E.) license (preferred).
  • Project experience involving site investigation, data analysis, and modeling (preferred).
  • Internship(s), co-op position, or prior work experience relevant to the position (preferred).
  • Working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, AutoCAD, and/or GIS (preferred).
