About the position

The Early Career Geologist position at WSP USA involves participating in environmental and geological data collection and analysis as part of the Earth & Environment Team. The role focuses on ensuring quality control in fieldwork, generating accurate documentation, and adhering to safety guidelines while contributing to projects that meet client objectives and address environmental challenges.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine field work related to soil sampling, soil gas sampling, groundwater sampling, and stormwater sampling.
  • Maintain quality control standards and procedures for accurate and precise measurements.
  • Generate complete, accurate, and concise documentation using electronic systems and field/work site notebook.
  • Comply with safety guidelines and site-specific procedures, including maintenance of sample collection and laboratory documentation.
  • Utilize the latest technologies and techniques in performing studies and analysis of organic and inorganic compounds.
  • Complete training on assigned tasks.
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds and resources.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Geology, Hydrogeology, or closely related discipline.
  • Excellent research skills with an analytical mindset.
  • Familiarity with concepts of reducing and eliminating hazardous substances.
  • Familiarity with relevant environmental laws, regulations, compliance practices, and record-keeping requirements.
  • Competent interpersonal and communication skills for effective interaction with diverse audiences.
  • Proficient self-leadership with attention to detail and ability to multi-task in a dynamic environment.
  • Ability to work independently under general supervision and as part of a team.
  • Basic proficiency with technical writing and office automation software.
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and compliance with health and safety policies.
  • Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements.
