About the position

The Early Career Geotechnical Engineer position at WSP USA involves providing geotechnical engineering assistance for infrastructure projects in both public and private sectors. The role includes tasks such as research, design, analysis, and documentation related to various construction projects, ensuring adherence to industry standards for quality, safety, and functionality.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with collecting, compiling, and analyzing data from physical work sites and various samples for project development.
  • Maintain quality control standards and procedures for accurate measurements.
  • Perform basic professional geotechnical engineering work related to site conditions, including subsurface investigations and soil foundation engineering.
  • Provide entry-level technical assistance on design requirements and operating strategies for safety and functionality.
  • Verify site characteristics and assist with environmental, design, and construction issues involving rock and soil mechanics.
  • Generate complete and accurate documentation using electronic systems and field logs.
  • Comply with safety guidelines and site-specific procedures.
  • Complete training on assigned tasks and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Geotechnical or Civil Engineering, or closely related discipline.
  • 0 to 1 years of relevant post-education experience.
  • Excellent research skills with an analytical mindset.
  • Familiarity with design/build processes and relevant laws, codes, and regulations.
  • Competent interpersonal and communication skills for effective interaction with diverse audiences.
  • Proficient self-leadership with attention to detail and ability to prioritize responsibilities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team to meet business objectives.
  • Basic proficiency with technical writing and office automation tools.
  • Familiarity with discipline-specific design software such as MicroStation, AutoCAD, and ArcGIS.
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and compliance with health and safety policies.
  • Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements.
