About the position

The Early Career Industrial Water Treatment Engineer position at WSP involves working on projects related to water treatment solutions across various industries. The role focuses on providing technical assistance in the analysis, development, and design of water supply and treatment processes, ensuring compliance with environmental standards. The engineer will collaborate with clients, conduct field investigations, and generate documentation while adhering to safety guidelines and quality control standards.

Responsibilities

  • Provide local technical assistance for the analysis, development, and design of water treatment processes and infrastructure.
  • Work alongside clients in various industries to engineer and develop water treatment solutions.
  • Assist in project research, field work, and preliminary design calculations and analysis.
  • Consult with and assist water treatment plants across the country and globally.
  • Develop construction documents including design drawings and specifications.
  • Provide on-site construction quality assurance (CQA) and oversight.
  • Conduct field investigations, including surface water measurement and sampling.
  • Collect and compile environmental data from samples for analysis.
  • Study water cycles and flow directions to assess environmental influences.
  • Maintain quality control standards for accurate measurements.
  • Assist with water resources engineering work related to water supply, quality, and management.
  • Generate complete and concise documentation using electronic systems and field notebooks.
  • Comply with safety guidelines and site-specific procedures.
  • Complete training on assigned tasks and responsibilities.
  • Exercise responsible decision-making regarding company resources and conduct.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil, Chemical or Environmental Engineering, focusing on water or wastewater treatment.
  • Excellent research skills with an analytical mindset.
  • Familiarity with professional water resources engineering concepts.
  • Knowledge of relevant environmental laws and compliance practices.
  • Competent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to travel to the field approximately 20% of the business year.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Strong technical writing, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented with an emphasis on quality work products.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree in Civil, Chemical or Environmental Engineering with a focus on water or wastewater treatment.
  • Engineer in Training Certification.
  • Prior internship related to the degree of study.
  • Active participation in local professional practice organizations.
