About the position

The position at Blue Origin involves leading the design, development, manufacturing, testing, and flight of combustion devices for the BE-3U or BE-7 engines. This role is crucial for ensuring safe and repeatable space flight, contributing to the company's mission of enabling millions of people to live and work in space. The successful candidate will manage the complete product life-cycle, requiring a strong background in engineering principles, particularly in fluid mechanics, heat transfer, and structural mechanics.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and development of BE-3U or BE-7 combustion devices including injectors, chambers, nozzles, thrusters, and igniters.
  • Manage the complete product life-cycle from initial requirements through design, manufacturing, and flight support.
  • Conduct test data reviews and process non-conforming hardware.
  • Collaborate with a team of engineers to ensure safety and quality in all aspects of engine development.
  • Support the manufacturing and testing processes of combustion devices.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a B.S. degree in an engineering discipline (aerospace, mechanical, chemical, or physics preferred).
  • Strong technical fundamentals in fluids, thermodynamics, and structures.
  • Experience in hardware design and/or development.
  • Computer-aided design (CAD) experience.
  • Demonstrated familiarity with data analysis and data processing.
  • Ability to earn trust and maintain positive professional relationships.

Nice-to-haves

  • M.S. or higher in engineering discipline.
  • Knowledge of the design process, hardware build, and test.
  • Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance (GD&T).
  • Experience with Creo (Pro/E) Wildfire 5 or greater, Windchill 10.
