About the position

The Early Career - Propulsion Engineer I position at Blue Origin focuses on the design, development, manufacturing, testing, and flight of combustion devices within the Engines business unit. This role is crucial for advancing safe and repeatable space flight, contributing to the company's mission of enabling millions of people to live and work in space. The engineer will be responsible for the complete product life-cycle of combustion devices, requiring a strong technical background and commitment to quality.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, development, production, and flight of BE-3U or BE-7 combustion devices including injectors, chambers, nozzles, thrusters, and igniters.
  • Manage the complete product life-cycle from initial requirements through design, manufacturing, test support, and flight support.
  • Conduct test data reviews and process non-conforming hardware.
  • Collaborate with a team of engineers to ensure safety and quality in all aspects of propulsion systems.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a B.S. degree in an engineering discipline (aerospace, mechanical, chemical, or physics preferred).
  • Strong technical fundamentals in fluids, thermodynamics, and structures.
  • Experience in hardware design and/or development.
  • Computer-aided design (CAD) experience.
  • Demonstrated familiarity with data analysis and data processing.
  • Ability to earn trust and maintain positive professional relationships.

Nice-to-haves

  • M.S. or higher in engineering discipline.
  • Knowledge of the design process, hardware build, and test.
  • Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance (GD&T).
  • Experience with Creo (Pro/E) Wildfire 5 or greater, Windchill 10.
