About the position

The Propulsion Engineering Internship at Blue Origin offers students the opportunity to engage in applied fluid and mechanical engineering projects that contribute to the development of reusable and safe space vehicles. This role is crucial for supporting the company's mission of enabling millions of people to live and work in space, while ensuring a culture of safety and collaboration. Interns will work on the design, analysis, and testing of propulsion and mechanical systems, directly impacting the future of space exploration.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the design, analysis, and testing of fluid components and systems.
• Support propulsion systems and mechanical systems projects.
• Collaborate with team members on rapid development programs.
• Communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders.
• Seek out requirements and work independently with minimal direction.

Requirements

• Successfully completed an internship with Blue Origin in 2024.
• Enrolled or recently graduating student attending a college or university.
• Able to start working full-time on or before September of 2025.
• Minimum of a B.S. degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, astronautical engineering, or equivalent.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team on rapid development programs.
• Self-driven with the ability to seek out requirements with minimal direction.
• Strong written, verbal, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident, or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with MATLAB or Simulink.
• Experience with programming languages including Python, C/C++.
• Relevant internship/co-op and academic project experience that demonstrate development of both technical skills and leadership qualities.
• Hands-on project experience.
