WSP is currently seeking an Early Career Bridge/Transportation Structures Engineer for our Miami, FL office. This position involves engaging in complex projects with our Florida Team, contributing to a growing organization that is dedicated to meeting client objectives and solving their challenges. The role provides essential support to technical staff, engineers, and project managers in various aspects of building and infrastructure projects, both in the public and private sectors. Responsibilities may include assisting with research, design, concept development, and construction of load-bearing structures or structural elements, such as buildings, bridges, roadways, and mechanical structures. The engineer will be responsible for generating accurate and concise reports and documentation regarding assigned installations and construction specifications, ensuring that all responsibilities are delivered with a level of quality that meets or exceeds industry standards for design, safety, structural soundness, and functionality. Under general supervision, the engineer will assist in collecting, compiling, and analyzing data from various sources, including physical work sites, surveys, blueprints, GIS data, subsurface utility information, maps, and geotechnical data. This data will be crucial for project development, design, and construction. The role also involves performing basic professional structural engineering work, including conducting research and inspections of proposed and existing site conditions to ensure compliance with applicable rules, standards, and permits. The engineer will perform routine engineering functions and provide entry-level technical assistance on design requirements and operating strategies, focusing on the safety and functionality of systems and infrastructure. Additionally, the engineer will assist in verifying site characteristics and providing technical assistance on securing structural soundness against environmental or human influences. The position requires generating complete and accurate documentation using electronic systems, drawings, and work site logs, while complying with safety guidelines and site-specific procedures. Collaboration with other engineers, professionals, and infrastructure authorities on various improvement and development projects is also a key aspect of this role. The engineer will be expected to exercise responsible decision-making regarding company resources and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies. Other responsibilities may be assigned as needed to meet business requirements.
