This opportunity at WSP is for a Full-Time Graduate Structural Engineer based in our Richmond, VA office. The selected candidate will be involved in projects with our Transportation Team and will be part of a growing organization that is dedicated to meeting client objectives and solving their challenges. The Richmond Office provides transportation and infrastructure services to numerous agencies and private clients in Virginia and the surrounding areas. Our structural work encompasses the design, review, and analysis of bridges, culverts, retaining walls, and other miscellaneous structures. Under general supervision, the Graduate Structural Engineer will assist with collecting, compiling, and analyzing data from various sources including physical work sites, surveys, blueprints, GIS data, subsurface utility information, maps, and geotechnical data for project development, design, and construction. The role involves performing basic professional structural engineering work, which includes conducting research and inspections of proposed and existing site conditions, resources, buildings, infrastructure, and transportation channels to ensure compliance with applicable rules, standards, and construction or operating permits. The engineer will also perform routine engineering functions and provide entry-level technical assistance on various design requirements and operating strategies to ensure the safety and functionality of end-users, systems, and infrastructure. Additionally, the role requires generating complete, accurate, and concise documentation using electronic systems, drawings, 2D/3D illustrations, and work site notebooks/logs. Compliance with safety guidelines and site-specific procedures is essential, as is the completion of training on assigned tasks. The engineer will be expected to exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds and resources, adhering to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures. Additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed by business requirements.
