About the position

The Structural & Mechanical Systems Engineer I - Intern Conversion position at Blue Origin is designed for early-career engineers who have completed an internship with the company. This role focuses on applying standard engineering techniques to design, analyze, and test mechanical systems and components, contributing to the development of reusable space vehicles. The position emphasizes collaboration, safety, and innovation in the context of space exploration, with a commitment to continuous learning and improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Apply standard engineering techniques to design, install, modify, analyze, repair, and test mechanical systems and components.
  • Develop, release, and support engineering artifacts across the development cycle.
  • Implement operating procedures and resolve system malfunctions.
  • Research and analyze customer design proposals and specifications to evaluate feasibility and maintenance requirements.
  • Specify system components or direct modifications to ensure conformance with engineering design and performance specifications.
  • Investigate equipment failures and recommend solutions to maintenance crews.

Requirements

  • Successfully completed an internship with Blue Origin in 2024.
  • Enrolled or recently graduated from a college or university with a minimum of a B.S. degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, mechatronics, or a similar discipline.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team on rapid development programs.
  • Strong written, verbal, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Self-driven with the ability to seek out requirements with minimal direction.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident, or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Nice-to-haves
