About the position

The Early Childhood Assessor is responsible for administering and facilitating classroom-based observational assessments in early care and education settings. This role involves conducting assessments using the Classroom Assessment Scoring System (CLASS) for Infant, Toddler, and Pre-K classrooms, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and maintaining high interrater reliability. The position requires effective communication and collaboration with diverse populations, as well as the ability to work independently and manage time efficiently.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct classroom-based observational assessments using the CLASS for Infant, Toddler, and Pre-K classrooms.
  • Enter assessment data into WELS or approved state portal.
  • Achieve and maintain at least 90% interrater reliability on assessment tools.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance and adherence to professional standards.
  • Conduct training for peers as needed.
  • Attend meetings, trainings, and conferences as required.
  • Evaluate and audit data to protect client and company information integrity.
  • Establish systems to monitor and maintain efficiencies in information flow.
  • Complete required assessments and prepare reports within contract periods.
  • Comply with quality standards in summary reports for each assessment.
  • Demonstrate high-level editing and proofreading skills in English and Spanish.
  • Work effectively in underserved communities and low-income areas.
  • Collaborate with other ELC program staff to complete assessments in a timely manner.
  • Provide community resources to providers when appropriate.

Requirements

  • BA/BS in Early Childhood, Elementary Education, Special Education, Psychology, or related field preferred; High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Three years of experience conducting observation-based classroom assessments using CLASS tools preferred.
  • Teachstone Reliability on all CLASS tools preferred.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.
  • Excellent writing, communication, and technological skills required.
  • Valid Florida Driver's License and reliable transportation required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Making the Most of Classroom Interactions (MMCI).
  • Familiarity with Environmental Rating Scales.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local laws pertinent to early childhood program assessment.
