About the position

The Early Childhood Education Center Director is responsible for managing the daily operations of a childcare facility, ensuring that a high-quality, developmentally appropriate program is delivered to children and families. This role involves compliance with state regulations, staff supervision, curriculum implementation, and maintaining a safe and nurturing environment for children. The Director will also engage with parents and staff to foster a positive community and ensure adherence to policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure a quality developmentally appropriate program is delivered to all children and families.
  • Perform all work in accordance with governmental laws, state mandates, and company policies/procedures.
  • Meet licensing requirements for the position in accordance with New Jersey regulations.
  • Follow all policies and procedures outlined in the Department of Childcare Licensing Manual.
  • Stay informed on updates to the New Jersey DYFS Manual of Requirements.
  • Ensure the facility is safe, clean, and well-stocked, including checking safety equipment.
  • Demonstrate strong crisis management abilities and follow crisis protocols when necessary.
  • Conduct all programs and activities within the safety standards of the company.
  • Complete a minimum of 20 hours of continuing education annually.
  • Maintain a high retention rate of enrolled children for at least six months.
  • Conduct all interactions with parents, guardians, staff, and visitors in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Supervise, observe, evaluate, and mentor staff of approximately 7 to 12 employees.
  • Interview, hire, and train staff, ensuring background checks and orientation are completed.
  • Create learning plans and programs to meet state and federal requirements and parent expectations.
  • Ensure the implementation of a developmentally appropriate curriculum in all classrooms.
  • Maintain staff motivation and resolve conflicts effectively.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a field related to children or business with at least one year of managerial or supervisory experience.
  • Valid CPR and First Aid Certification.
  • Experience in teaching, preferably at least one year.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in early childhood education management.
  • Knowledge of child safety requirements and first aid protocols.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary range of $55,000 - $57,000 per year.
  • Full-time position with an 8-hour shift from Monday to Friday.
